Description
by Judith Thomas-Solomon
This rhythmical version of this cautionary tale, “Three Little Pigs,” was born a long time ago at the Orff Institute as an assignment using speech/body and small percussion for the late Director, and then composition teacher, Dr. Hermann Regner.
Presented in two versions, “Simplified Version” and “More Difficult Version,” This performance piece invites intermediate grade musicians into the magic of meter in 5 through this familiar tale. This piece is a great example of solid musical learning that also makes for a great performance. The familiarity of the tale, combined with the excitement of new metric learning, presents a perfect blend of old and new. Students find this piece very engaging!
