Our story
Music education starts here
Music Is Elementary grew out of Motter's Music House, a Northeast Ohio music store dating back to 1947. In the late 1980s, owner Bill Johnson launched MIE in Cleveland as a catalog made just for elementary music teachers. Today we design our own Renaissance recorders, Orff stands and Kinder mallets, carry more than 3,000 products for early childhood, elementary, general music and music therapy, and ship across the U.S. and around the world.
