by Roger Sams, with text by Robert Louis Stevenson.
The Crooked River Choral Project is a collection of artful choral music composed specifically with music teaching and learning in mind. Our selections are first and foremost beautiful pieces of music. They are rooted in solid pedagogical thinking, providing music educators with rich teaching opportunities through quality literature. This series offers music with lyrics that inspire the human spirit, nurturing the best in musicians of all levels. Each title includes a CD with rehearsal recordings (including individual voice parts sung by both an adult female and by children, and an accompaniment only track) and CD-Rom with reproducible scores.
CRCP1 Volume 1: ìWhere Go the Boatsî is the first installment in the Robert Louis Stevenson Song Cycle, by Roger Sams. This elegant, pentatonic melody will charm and delight your singers while cultivating beautiful, lyrical singing. Opportunities for literacy work abound, with particularly clear opportunities to practice low so and low la (below the Do tonal center).
We’re absolutely delighted that the second printing of “Where Go the Boats?” is now in our Deluxe Edition format, with Kod·ly based teaching plans by Georgia Newlin, DMA. Georgia offers you plans for teaching music literacy through integrated warm-ups and a solid teaching process that unfolds over the course of six rehearsal periods. Begin six weeks before your performance and not only will your students sound beautiful at their concert, but they will have improved their music reading skills in the process of getting there.
The Crooked River Choral Project is compiled and edited by Roger Sams, MA and Julie Scott, Ph.D.
