Inspired by the body percussion pieces in Rhythmische Übung, by Gunild Keetman, particularly #33 and #34 for patting and clapping, Roger Sams has written a BP/UTP Lesson Part 1, a body percussion canon for your mid to upper elementary students that will transfer nicely to untuned percussion instruments in Part 2. In Part 1, Roger models a kinesthetically-based process for teaching the piece through movement and active listening. (In the film, Roger says incorrect numbers.)
This lesson will take a couple of classes to get through. We think your students are going to enjoy this one. Have some fun!

Hi Roger, I’m pulling this lesson out for the final 6 days of school before Christmas break. Thanks so much for a fun but meaningful movement activity – it’s a lifesaver right now!

Thanks Drue. I’m delighted that it is working for you and others. Have a great day!
Your process makes it so clear and really solidifies the learning. Thank you for modeling such a great lesson with such clear processing.
You’re most welcome, Marcia. Thank you for your kind words. We look forward to offering an ongoing stream of beautiful lessons on video for you and other teachers in the future.
