In honor of Earth Day 2017 Roger Sams, our Director of Publications, has written this simple round for joyful singing. When singing in two parts, bring the second part in after eight beats. When singing in four parts, the groups should enter every four beats. If you’d like to add an extension, consider breaking your students into small groups to create word chains (with movement?) that tell of the ways they will choose to take care of the earth. You could layer these speech ostinati for a contrasting section. You might even want to revisit the word chains and turn them into untuned percussion ostinati on a second day. Have some fun with this one!
